Victory in Europe (VE) Day
VE Day, 8 May 1945 - the surrender of Germany marked the end of the Second World War in Europe. The war continued in the far east for a few months longer, ending on Victory over Japan (VJ) Day, 15 August 1945. In Chaddesden VE Day was celebrated by several street parties as pictured below. There may have been others but photographic film was hard to obtain during the war.
